Complex Obs Protocols


General Exclusions
So who shouldn't go to complex observation?
  • patient who will need new facility placement
  • patient who will need new dialysis placement
  • patient at danger to themselves (suicidal)
  • patient with unstable vital signs



Simple Obs Protocols


General Exclusions
So who shouldn't go to simple observation?
  • patients with acute pain (sickle cell disease, new cancer pain, etc.)
  • patients who are going to be admitted no matter what happens
  • patient who require too much workup (i.e. MRI, Stress Test AND neuro consult)
